The LA-TCI

The Louisiana Tobacco Control Initiative (LA-TCI) is a multi-disciplinary program specializing in helping tobacco users quit.  LA-TCI is administered by the LSU Health – New Orleans School of Public Health and supported by a contract (CFMS no 599454) from the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium through the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco Free Living.

The goal of the LA-TCI is to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use within partner healthcare systems/facilities by:

  1. Identifying all tobacco users;

  2. Identifying evidence-based interventions appropriate for and acceptable to patients;

  3. Cost effectively providing those interventions to patients, when possible.

The LA-TCI follows the U.S. Public Health Service evidence-based guideline for “Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence.”
