Leonore Okwara, MPH, has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Fort Hays State University and Master's in Public Health (Epidemiology) from Eastern Virginia Medical School. She offers over a decade of behavioral health research, program planning and implementation, budget management, and grant writing expertise. During her graduate studies, she completed a practicum with the Navy Environmental Health Center at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia that focused on the impact of war on the mental health of service members and their families. Professionally, she played a significant role in managing serveral innovative public health clinical and research projects targeting Autism, Depression, Anxiety, Chronic Pain, HIV, and child welfare. Her interests include pursuing research opportunities that explore social determinants of health, improve health equity and reduce/eliminate health disparities.
